Meet Team Squamish, BC
Where a work trip can find leisure and adventure. Shelby and Peter were camping at the Fernie RV Resort beside me and we talked coffee, beer, travel, work and balance. They were also riders (more advanced than I) and shared insights to trails in Squamish and in Fernie.
After Nelson, I was so stoked to set up in Fernie for 3 days in a row - the longest camping set so far. The plan - mountain biking, food and campfires. I am remembering my friend Tammy from Kelowna saying, ‘I’d say don’t talk to strangers but that’s what you do...” haha Who Me?!
Me: Hi. I’m Patti. I see that you are riding. What are you plans for trails?
Squamish: We are watching the weather and trail forks for reports of wildlife and trail conditions given we are early birds to trail riding post-melt.
Upon introductions, of course they share their desire to ride in Yukon and have heard of our trails and culture. I proudly share Yukon stories and insights to help fuel their travel planning. @travelYukon
Shelby and Peter are returning from a work trip to Calgary, making an adventure out of the trip. Peter is the Master Brewer for Howe Sound Brewing and Shelby works in front line health care. They are dedicated passionate riders at home and were keen to explore in the Kootenays - the rain was a bit of deterrent - Peter maybe more keen...?
They live in a mountain town and seek riding experiences and adventure. Adding leisure and adventure to a work trip is win/win/win - they get to work, explore and experience communities and their trails. Their next adventures: multi-day hikes across British Columbia and maybe some beer and coffee sampling along their routes.
